Southern California seems to have an endless supply of outstanding local bands, including The Broken Stems. The San Diego-based blues, rock and soul group’s songs certainly deserve a listen. Some of the material, like “AnitBots,” verges on top quality contemporary pop while other tracks, such as “Home,” have an R&B feel. Also, check out the band’s version of the classic “Hey Joe” on YouTube. Not surprising, The Stems’ following continues to grow.
Influenced by Jack White, Rivals Sons, Led Zeppelin, Black Keys, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, The Broken Stems won the 2016 Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star Award and JBL’s Best American Band in 2017. For more, check out the group on social media.
